RARE 1st ed. H/b.Original Fawn cloth boards with green titles and illustration of a salutation to upper board. 190 x 130 mm approx. Frontis + 10 other b/w photographic illustrations on glossy art paper as called for. xii + 90 pp + 8pp publisher's catalogue containing 4 further b/w photographic illustrations from books there advertised. Forward by Amy Wilson-Carmichael. Record of the missionary work commenced in 1890 among the Toda people a Dravidian ethnic group from Tamil Nadu distinguished by the mop of hair worn by the menfolk and ringlets by the women. A title now scarce in its original published format. Good ( General soiling and wear to cloth commensurate with age and spine sunned. The book has recently been re backed by us with a new mull and back strip, the original plain paper end papers and spine retained. Browning to a preliminary blank and corresponding page to rear. NB There appears to be an error in pagination to the prelims or possibly lacking a dedication page and there is an additional copy of the frontis.)
